We are a nature conservation organization working on the
conservation and restoration of natural forests of Japan
Japan Bear & Forest Society is a nationwide conservation organisation focusing on the conservation and restoration of natural forests in remote mountains that are the source of fresh water, as well as the protection of large wild animals living in these forests.

ISSUE
Due to the Forestry Agency's expansion afforestation policy after WW2,
the diverse natural forests south of Honshu were turned into artificial forests of cedar and other trees.
While these trees are easy to process, it has catastrophic affect to the ecosystem.
Wild animals now come out to human habitation in search of food.
Spring water from the forest is decreasing drastically year by year.
