Current status of forest and wildlife

Bears Enrich The Forest

There are many other creatures that live in the forest alongside the bears. They live quietly and are the “guardians of the forest” and make the forest a home to a wide variety of animals. As an animal on the top of the ecosystem, they can provide water sources as well.

In recent years, bears have appeared in human habitation, resulting in many being exterminated.

Bears, which have enriched demote forests have begun to appear in areas of human settlements in recent years. Humans have also encountered many when collecting wild vegetables in areas where bears live which have resulted in fatal accidents. In cases of accidents or sightings of bears, they are captured with the use of traps or guns. With the number of bears being hunted rapidly increasing, bears are now on the verge of extinction. There is an urgent need to separate habitats between wild animals and humans.

Why Are Bears Appearing in Human Settlements ?
The Problem Is Us, Humans

Reasons

Food Crisis Caused By The Devastation of Artificial Forests

Artificial forests that have been expanded into mountains after the post-war expansion afforestation have been poorly maintained with no undergrowth and no food for larger wild animals. Due to this, animals enter villages in search of food. This has resulted in local crops being damaged and a large number of animals being exterminated.

Deterioration Of Forests Caused By Global Warming

In the few remaining natural forests, acorn trees have died in massive numbers due to oak wilt, as well as insects drastically decreasing, and the disappearance of undergrowth has left wild animals with no shelter and food.

Destruction Of Habitat Due To Development Of Renewable Energy

Large-scale deforestation has occurred in various areas in demoted mountains due to the development of forest roads, the construction of ridge-line wind power generation and large-scale solar power generation facilities.

When Bears Can No Longer Live In Their Remote Mountains, Human Life Is Also Affected

The ecological balance is disrupted as the bears can no longer live in remote mountains while these areas continue to deteriorate. In artificial forests where wild animals cannot live, spring water has already started decreasing, leading to frequent landslides and debris flows. By protecting bears, we are protecting the forest and protecting human life.
